The Living Rainforest in Thatcham, has to be one of the county’s most exciting attractions! In the heart of Berkshire lies 700 acres of rainforest waiting to be discovered. Lizards, birds, monkeys, a crocodile, butterflies and snakes all roam free in their own natural habitat (OK, so maybe the crocodile and snakes don’t roam free!) Many exotic plant species – bananas, coffee, cocoa, ginger, vanilla – grow here too.
You will also find an outside picnic jungle and cafe!
Inspired by the RIO+20 Summit, The Rainforest is currently running a competition, in which children aged 7-16 are invited to write an essay “Dear Mr. UN Secretary-General …”.
Apart from the usual Christmas break, The Living Rainforest is open year round, so it is the perfect winter attraction!
