Berkshire is dotted with many Nature Reserves and Country Parks, not only in rural areas but nestled in the most unexpected places, such as Jubilee River, between Slough and Maidenhead, or Swinley Forest which virtually surrounds Bracknell. Our county is a uniquely picturesque place with many beautiful areas ripe for exploring, from The North Wessex Down (AONB) in the West, through Swinley Forest to Windsor Great Park and Virginia Water in the East.
The Thames naturally splits the county and affords plenty of gentle walking and unspoilt scenery. We are blessed with (generally) mild weather, where even winter has a good number of clear bright days. It’s easy to get out and explore our beautiful countryside with so many Nature Reserves and Country Parks right on our doorstep. Parking is often free or council subsidised.
So, put on your wellies and get out and discover the countryside!
